Ranunculaceae - Buttercup Family

In the boreal forest, the Buttercup Family (Ranunculaceae) is represented by two distinctive members: Coptis trifolia and Clematis occidentalis. Coptis trifolia, commonly known as Threeleaf Goldthread, graces the forest floor with its three-parted leaves and small, bright yellow flowers. Meanwhile, Clematis occidentalis, a member of the Clematis genus, adorns the landscape with its striking purple to blue flowers and feathery seed heads. These unique members of the Buttercup Family contribute to the boreal forest's floral diversity and play essential roles in the ecosystem.
